Post-Grad Life Update

So, it’s been TWENTY TWO months since graduating from university. It’s almost two years!! I think I should stop calling these “Post-Grad” life updates and simply life updates because as much as I don’t want to accept it, I’m an adult now.
No more post-grad! Or can I hold on to it for a little longer???

Quick reminder: I graduated in December 2015 with a Bachelors of Science degree in geosciences with a concentration in Environmental Science. I had a GPA of nobody gives A F*** lol, is GPA really a big deal? Oh, and I graduated from the Midwestern State University #GoMustangs !!

POST-GRAD

Timeline: Cheers to Graduating ,Real World Time?Year in Review , Motivation Mondays // Mini Life UpdateIf we were having coffee // February Roundup , Currently I Am…. | Pt 1

Currently,  this is what I’m up to:

WORKING

After leaving my previous job as a lab technician in February it took me awhile to get back on my feet. I fell back into my funk and spent most (all) of my day at home, once in a while searching for job opportunities online. Three months later I was lucky enough to get an opportunity at a government office.
The stars began to align! This position would be related to my field as I could learn all things about the country’s environmental state as well as other opportunities. I was/am happier here, learning new stuff on occasion as opposed to doing the same lab tests over and over. Can you imagine I actually thought I wanted to be a lab technician forever? But I was more thinking in terms of water treatment and not petroleum.

PLAYING

I’m not even twenty-five yet and I’m tired of the party scene; at least here in Antigua. It’s just the same crowd, same music, same shit over and over with an increase in admission prices. I rather stay home, Netflix and chill or spend some low-key time with friends. Hey but all work and no play makes you dull right? not that I mind as there are other things to life. However, since I returned home to the #IslandLife I’ve been visiting the beach a lot. That’s my go to place for peace and relaxation, still trying to visit new ones to document.

RELATIONSHIP/DATING

Still falling for the wrong people and getting into toxic relationships *LOL*. Learning to stop looking for the perfect person and accepting people for who they are. We’ll see how this goes. It’s always hard trusting people and knowing their true intentions.

FINANCE

Slowly, but surely it’s getting better. Currently not at a place I’d like to be, but hey it takes time. Don’t you just hate when unexpected spending comes into play? Money also goes quickly, like wtf?

HOUSING

I still live with my parents, but here in the Caribbean that’s not really a bad thing. Kids usually don’t move out until they’re in a serious relationship/getting married. Plus, I’m still young and I don’t even have enough funds to support myself. I also really love my house and it’s location, I can’t picture moving. (P.S the pic below is random and not views from my house, lol)

HEALTH

Since graduating I don’t recall ever being seriously sick, just a minor flu here and there. I should also look into getting health insurance since I’m no longer covered by my mom, ugh. I don’t know what else to say about this; I still hate doctor/dentist offices.

Oh, and this happened –> Story Time // My First Hospital Experience

READING

I haven’t been reading as much as I’d have liked to, but you can check out what I’ve finished reading here and a list of my hopefuls here. Throughout this period the book that has really opened up mind is Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. I hope to take action with everything I read in order to transform my life. Apart from fiction novels I’m growing interest in motivational/self-help books.

LISTENING

I hardly listen to music unless it’s a mix to get through the work day or the radio while driving. I’ve thought about getting into listening to podcasts tho; sometimes posts are rather long to read and hearing someone else speak may do the trick. I’ve listened to some TED talks as well.

WATCHING

I’ve started a bunch of shows which are yet to be completed. I also have shows from before that I haven’t caught up with. Recently I’ve watched Insecure and currently keeping up with Scandal & HTGAWM. I’m also a sucker for Family Feud *sshh* Besides for TV I’m going to attempt to make time to watch some youtube videos; step my make-up and hairstyles games up!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

My birthday is the 24th of this month and I have NOTHING planned
I really have nothing else planned, but I can’t wait for Christmas and the New Year. It’s my favorite time of year. =)

Any other post-grads out there?
How is life going for you guys?
Let me know!!
