June 2018 Highlights

Hey Guys!

So there are some things that I do during the course of a month which naturally don’t make it to the blog. Maybe if I remember to capture it they’d make it to Instagram, but that’s about it. Therefore, I thought why not have a section on the blog where I post about my highlights for the month.

June, you flew by but there were definitely some moments worth mentioning. Mostly spending moments on FOOD! Yep, I definitely ate out a lot this month but it was all due to me having to catch up with friends.

The month started off on a high with a relaxing weekend at the Verandah Resort & Spa with my main person. It was his birthday weekend and also a long-awaited “mini getaway” if you want to call it such. We actually wanted to do something like this for a long while, so I’m happy it finally happened. The time spent together was great.

Hair Update

I did my first length check in weeks. I was feeling rather frustrated because it didn’t seem like my hair was growing at all. However, I found an old picture of the previous year and that settled my nerves. My hair is actually longer and thicker.

Also, I tried a new deep conditioner which has me super stoked to try other products in this line. I have a feeling I’m going to go crazy on natural hair products next month. But the only way to really see if something works for your hair is trial and error. I already established that creme of nature products do nothing for me and eco styler gel makes my hair hard, crunchy and has a lot of flakes after drying.

Rotaract

Despite the fact that I’m not yet a member, I got asked to assist the PRO with promoting the club and carrying out other projects as requested by the district. As a way to expand and develop my skills more, I accepted the opportunity. Since then I’ve been on a little high with creating social media images and such. I also have new ideas up my sleeve that I can’t wait to try for the upcoming year.

For those of who don’t know, rotaract is a non-profit service organization for young adults aged 18-30. The motto is service above self. To learn more, check out the website or our club’s Instagram page.

Food

As mentioned previously, I ate out a lot during the month of June. I visited five different restaurants in which I may have done mini reviews on my IG page. The places I went to are Runway 10, Bay house Restaurant & Bar, Castaways, Area 51, Cuties.

Read

Finally finished a book! I was stuck for quite some time in completing books, but I think once you find something you really enjoy you just can’t put it down. That was me with The Four Agreements. I’ve also been reading “You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero. It has some good takeaway points, but it also seems a bit redundant/ common sense ish. Like I’ve heard all this before and you’re not even saying it a new way. There’sΒ something about it, but I still want to finish it.

Quality time

What I loved the most about this month is I got to spend time with people I care about. Sadly, I didn’t get to fit everyone in but there’s still time to do so (for those who are on island). I need to also find ways to spend quality time without racking up a bill! Lol

Why not end with my top performing post of the month:

Wash Day - 2

I finessed my way with Pinterest and my natural hair posts, now it’s the largest referrer for views on my blog! Yay

What are some of your highlights for this month?
Let me know in the comments!

  1. I guess one of the advantages of living in the Caribbean is that you have some fabulous resorts & restaurants at your doorstep! Loving the pics & the idea of doing monthly highlights!

You seem to be really good at balancing being a working adult with having a social life. I can barely remember June, but some of the things I was excited about was taking my mom out to a nice dinner spot, planning a bonfire with my friends, and signing up for some design classes.

    • Yess that’s definitely a plus to the island life. I guess you can also day that, but I don’t think I’m as social as most people. It’s also not that hard when you decide to leave work at work. Those all sounds great and once they were special to you then awesome! πŸ’–
