Remember when I said that we’ll be trying new places this year? Well, here you go! Lately, I’ve been loving Asian food, more specifically sushi, and when I saw this new restaurant advertising, I knew I had to go. Lemongrass Thai Kitchen and Lounge recently opened and my sisters and I gave them a visit. As usual, I’ll be sharing the details on the restaurant as well as my review of our experience.
Location + Details
Lemongrass Thai is located off Dockyard Drive in English Harbour, just opposite of Falmoth Harbour Marina. English Harbour is a yachting community in the south of Antigua known for its many restaurants and vibrant nightlife, so this restaurant was just another addition. The restaurant was spread among three tiers, with outdoor seating, a second tier under Thai inspired umbrellas with an open kitchen and an upper level where the bar and lounge was located. It was very aesthetic and Asian-inspired with the decor, which helps it to stand out amongst other restaurants.
Dining Experience
Lemongrass Thai offers an expansive menu with an array of Asian-inspired dishes. These fall under hot bites, sushi, salads, curries, soups, noodles & rice, stir fried & main course, and desserts. The menu is quoted in both US and EC dollars. The waitress offered us the option of having all the meals at once to resemble a more traditional Thailand meal, or having it served by course as normal. We opted for the latter option, but the food was served pretty quickly still.

The Review
Hot Bites & Sushi
We started with two types of options: a selection from the hot bites and sushi as we wanted the ability to try as much as we could. We had the Prawn Crackers, Prawn Spring Rolls, California Tuna Roll and the Avocado Roll.
From the time the plates were brought out, we were captivated by the artistic presentation. The vibrant pink hue of the fresh tuna and the bright green avocado was a testament of the fresh ingredients. Both rolls had a melt in your mouth texture, with flavours that meshed well together, and it was honestly the best thing we enjoyed this night. The Prawn Spring Rolls were also a pleasant surprise, as it was four whole prawns encased in a crispy wrapper which was fried to perfection. The Prawn Crackers were new to me, as I didn’t know what it was, but it was a light, airy snack food which was good to crunch on.

Main Course
On to the main. As discussed above, there were many large dishes to choose from but I had the Goong Yang Sauce Makhaam or the Grilled Tiger Prawns with Tamarind Sauce with a side of steamed Jasmine Rice. While the sauce was delicious, I personally disliked the fact that it was served with the shells on, as it made it difficult to enjoy. However, what I managed to get was tasty.
My sister had the Prawn Phad Thai which is a stir fried rice noodle dish with eggs, tofu, bean sprouts, crushed peanuts and tamarind sauce. According to her, this meal was flavourful and the prawn was succulent.

Dessert
To end the night, we shared the mango sticky rice and vanilla ice cream. I always saw this dessert on TikTok as it’s a popular Thai dessert. However, my expectations were not met as the sticky rice ended up as a thick ball under the ice cream. The vanilla ice cream was nice though!
Drinks
I only had one drink for the night, the Puang Chompoo which is a gin-based cocktail. I’ve seen it all over my social media and given the aesthetic, I had to have it. It came just as advertised and passed the taste test. My sister had a lychee flavoured cocktail and as you can see presentation is their forte. The cocktails were US $13.

Overall
Would I return?
Definitely! The sushi and cocktails impressed me and there were also other menu items I was interested in giving a try. There was also live entertainment on the night which made it more enjoyable. Additionally, they offer happy hour between 5-7 p.m. where you can buy one signature cocktail and get the other free.
