TikTok Made Me Do It: Baked Feta Pasta | Recipe & Review

Hey Friends!

About last year this time, I joined TikTok for the first and a couple months later deleted my account due to concerns about the creators. However, I recently rejoined because I missed scrolling through and seeing the different dances, tutorials, challenges and food recipes. I’ve tried mug cakes, wraps, and waffles all based on viral TikTok recipes. The latest of them being, the infamous Baked Feta Pasta! If you’re on social media and haven’t seen a video or image of this, what world do you live in? Given my love for pasta, I decided to give this a try and today I’ll be sharing the recipe I used and my review.

INGREDIENTS

  • Penne Pasta
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Spinach
  • Mushrooms
  • Garlic & Onion
  • Feta Cheese
  • Olive Oil
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Grilled Chicken Thighs
  • *Heavy Cream
  • *Parmesan Cheese

DIRECTIONS

In a baking dish, layer cherry tomatoes, block of Feta cheese, garlic cloves, onions and mushroom; drizzle olive oil on top and place in oven at 375 for 30 minutes. After taking the dish out, proceed to smash the cheese and mix everything together. I added spinach and then mixed in the pasta. Once coated in cheese mixture I placed it on a plate with the chicken served on top.

Honestly, I had high hopes for this pasta but it just wasn’t what I expected at ALL! This was also my first time having feta cheese so perhaps I was caught by surprise. Does it usually have a sour taste? For starters, I didn’t use as much oil as I’d seen in the videos because I didn’t want it to be oily but instead it turned out incredibly dry. I also added grilled chicken to my pasta to complete the meal. For the leftover I attempted to rectify the damages by adding heavy cream and parmesan cheese, it worked out a bit better. However, this isn’t a recipe I’ll try again in the future.

Have you ever tried this viral recipe? Are there any others I should try?

Until Next Time,

  2. Hey I tried it too but I did a version from a Jamaican TikToker and it was really good. I did go a bit heavy on the oil and used shrimp instead. It’s heavy on seasoning too – her @ is jhenelle98

It came out so good I’m putting it into my rotation of meals I typically make.

    1. Ooo thanks!! Maybe I’ll give it another try. I was also wondering if it was the type of Feta cheese I used.
