Hair Diary: Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream Review

Hey Hey Hey!

I’m slowly trying to find a balance between my lifestyle, inspiration and hair posts, so bear with me. I’m not trying to turn my blog into a natural hair blog, but it is a part of me. Although I take most of my natural hair content onto Instagram, I still want to go into depth and give a full review on products I’ve tried. More so, when the results come out BOMB AF. FYI If you missed the last product review, check it out here (go read and then come back) —> Indian Aztec Healing Clay Mask Review.

Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream Review on 4C hair

Thanks to the title you already know which product I’ll be reviewing. Taliah Waajid is not a brand I use often, as I don’t have much access to the products here in Antigua. Also, I don’t see much use of it on social media given the pages I follow. Nonetheless, I tried their Crinkles & Curls Setting and Styling Lotion before, and now I’m giving the Curly Curl Cream a try. Both these products were recommended by my aunt and they both work really well when used. Who said kinky hair can’t be curly?

I decided to switch up my styling a bit by doing a mixture of flat twists paired with singles. Trust me, when I first started this natural hair journey I couldn’t flat twist to save a life but I definitely got better at it. As you can see below I flat twisted the front while doing two strand twists at the back. I find when I do flat twist in a cornrow style, the back on my head would always come out way too dry.

Products Used:

  • Creme of Nature Mango & Shea Butter Shampoo
  • TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask
  • Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey Leave-in Conditioner
  • Taliah Waajid Crinkles & Curls Setting Lotion
  • Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream
  • Avocado Oil
  • Murray’s Edgewax

From the products listed above, you can see that I did this style on freshly washed hair. I used one of my new shampoos which is slowly becoming my go-to for its super moisturizing qualities. To be honest I gave up creme of nature couple of months ago, but so far this product has been great and it smells amazing.

After deep conditioning I began detangling my hair with my Mielle Organics leave-in. I went through section by section carefully using my fingers as well as a wide-tooth comb. After my hair was detangled I went in with my Taliah Waajid Crinkles & Curls Setting lotion and then the Curly Curl Cream. The setting lotion is in the form of a mousse and is said to give a hold that you need with no frizz, breakage or damage.

The star of the show – Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream.

Non-greasy herbal hair cream that revitalizes curls and eliminates frizz. Conditions and nourishes hair while adding shine and moisture. Holds hair and styles in place. Easily shampoos out with no build up.

According to the label

This cream is THICK, just how I like my hair products. It’s also paraben free and contains Shea butter and sage (a pretty refreshing scent, something different to the usual coconut-scented products). While doing my twists I could feel my hair being moisturized in the process, and a little went a long way. During the time my twists were in and throughout takedown I didn’t witness any build up. The next time I use this product will be to attempt a three-strand twist out.

What do you think? Have you ever used this brand before?

    1. Thank you! Keep practicing the twists, it gets easier. Also better when your hair is fully detangled.

  5. I can’t twist save my life, but starting to practice little by little. I never tried their products to a few months back but it was leave in and detangle. Can’t remember what thought of it. Still reading the post and wanted comment. God Bless.
