Be a DOER, NOT a DREAMER

Hey Guys!

As you know I’m currently reading Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes and it’s keeping me inspired plus pushing me to share my inspiration. *It’s a darn good book!* It started with “You never say yes to anything” and here we are now being urged to “Ditch the dream; be a DOER, not a DREAMER.”

Well Shonda, I’M A DREAMER……it’s all I’ve ever been. *maybe that’s why I often times feel stuck* I dream about any and everything. I can dream on instinct or I can pause and continue the dream later…I don’t know if that’s normal or weird. I’ve dreamt about so many things; The only difference is now I need to DO.

“Dreams don’t work unless you do.”

So you can continue dreaming of your “dream life”, but what are you actively doing to achieve this? FYI It’s going to take hard work and dedication.

In order to help me become more of a doer I’ve taken up the challenge of making a vision board as well as setting goals. The key to goal setting is making reasonable goals and including smaller plans of action. That way you have all the thoughts out of your head and ways to actively achieve them.

Another method is to surround yourself with doers. Just like you are known by the company you keep, in time you will develop some of their habits. Similar to finding your tribe and having someone to inspire you to do and not just dream.

Everything isn’t going to happen overnight. Be prepared for some hiccups along the way and be sure to have a plan b/c/d etc. Also know when to abandon a certain dream because it may not be for you. (For example a particular goal weight may just be unachievable or further threaten your health/wellbeing)

It’s time to bring your dreams to life my darling.
Take small steps but make sure they’re in the right direction.

  1. Loved this! My Gemini sun and Pisces ascendant keep me in the realm of dreams, lol. I’ve wasted so much time fantasizing about goals instead of working on them. I will take your advice on surrounding myself with more “doers”. Might also finally create a vision board. Also a fan of “Year Of Yes”.
